RESIDENCY PROGRAMMES


Company and Independent Artist Residencies.

Wellesley Studios exists to make a real difference for the NZ performing arts sector. It is a place where artists can continue their training, connect, collaborate and create with others to produce important new work.

In as such Wellesley Studios offer long and short term, Artist and Company in Residence programmes which provide access to studio space, Green Room and other amenities. A full suite of Residency Programmes will be reliant on external funding support and donations.

As we are still building a programme of ongoing residencies, we are happy to look at requests on a case by case basis. Please submit requests by email.

Call For Applications 
Wellesley Studios Summer Choreographic Residency 2022 

Wellesley Studios exists to make a real difference for the NZ performing arts sector.  It is a space where artists can continue their training, connect, collaborate and create with others.

As part of its vision to provide support for the professional independent dance sectorWellesley Studios is pleased to call for expressions of interest for its Summer Residency 2022.

The 2022 Summer Residency is open to project based work of any performance medium and at any stage of development.  

 

We will provide: 

  • Studio space and facilities over three weeks in early 2022 for one choreographer or collaborating group of artists. 
  • Financial contribution towards the Residency. 
  • Choreographic mentoring/coaching tailored to need. 
  • A support letter should any further funding be sought in connection with this Residency or project. 
  • An informal showing hosted by Wellesley Studios. 

In return the successful applicant will be asked to share their experiences and processes 

 

Wellesley Studios will host an informal showing at the culmination of the Residency.

 

Summer Residency Dates 2022  

17th January – 4thFebruary – provisional on COVID-19 Alert Levels 
Studio Space will be available Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm (Excluding 31st Jan- Auckland Anniversary Day)

Applications close Friday 1st October 2021 at midday.

Applicants will be notified of the panel’s decision no later than Friday 22nd October 2021.
